ICOC MWP, HOPE Worldwide aid 126 students

Community support turned donations into school essentials for children facing financial hardship

Last June 6, ICOC Mandaluyong-West Pasig (MWP) partnered with HOPE Worldwide Philippines to provide school supplies to 126 children ahead of the new school year.

Forty-five disciples and volunteers led the outreach, while donors, friends, and families contributed cash and in-kind donations. Some supporters gave despite facing their own hardships, including unemployment and terminal illness.

The collective effort allowed ICOC MWP to give each child a school bag filled with essential supplies, including notebooks, pencils, art materials, a tumbler, school socks, an umbrella, and vitamins. Donors also contributed books to the HOPE library.

The event also recognized children who completed the HOPE Summer Camp program, celebrating their achievements before the start of classes.

Beyond providing school supplies, the outreach offered encouragement to children and their families. Many parents expressed gratitude for the support.

Many of the HOPE children had stopped attending school because of poverty and other challenges. As the new school year begins, the donations give them practical support and renewed hope for a fresh start.
